Travel to school
Planning your school travel is easy. There are a range of safe transport options to get to our school. Check our location map, driving details and public transport options to help make the journey to school safe and easy.
Location map
We are located at Joyce St, NSW 2450 Coffs Harbour.
Use School Finder to confirm if you live in our local intake area.
Catching public transport
Public transport is a great way to safely get to and from school.
Catching a bus
Teachers are rostered on bus duty. If a child misses their bus they will be taken to the office and their parents/carers contacted.
Students waiting to catch buses are supervised by a teacher each afternoon.

There are two bus arrival and departure points for our school:
- The majority of our students arrive at, and depart from, the Jackson Place bus stop.
- Some students arrive and depart from Bray Street (outside Orara High School).
Bicycles/Scooters/Skateboards
Some of our students travel to and from school on bicycles or scooters. A bike rack is available at the front of the school for bicycles and scooters and locking chains are essential for safekeeping.
Only students in Years 3-6 are permitted to ride to school. Helmets must be worn when bicycles or scooters are ridden to school, otherwise the child will not be permitted to ride to and from school.
Bicycles and scooters must not be ridden in the school grounds.
The school cannot accept responsibility for the safety of bicycles or scooters.
Skateboards are not permitted at school.

When driving and parking near our school, please:
- ensure you park safely in school zones
- follow speed signs
- do not make U-turns or 3-point turns outside the school.
- do not call your children from across the road
Parking on school grounds
There are three arrival and departure points for children who are not travelling by bus.
- The main gate on Joyce Street.
- Students walking or riding who live on Joyce Street side of the school use the gate near the pedestrian crossing.
- Jackson Place gate.
The car parking areas at the front of Tyalla Public School are for staff use only and must not be used by parents when picking up or dropping off children.
The only exception is the disabled parking spaces reserved for parents of children with disabilities. A disabled permit must be displayed.
